Life Education with Harold

Kia ora bloggers,

Today, on the 13th of October, my class and I had a session with Grace & Harold called ‘Life Education’. We learnt many things such as what the inside of our body looks like, what stress may look like, sound like and feel like, ways to relieve stress and what may cause stress.

Personally what stood out for me were the ways you can conquer stress peacefully without hurting you or the people around you. There are many ways to do so such as taking deep breathes in and out which sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax, eating comfort foods for example a bowl of warm oatmeal and keeping yourself hydrated with water. This helps with calming the brain down and keeping you cool. Another stress relief is to do things that make you happy and smile which will distract the brain from being stressed because when you’re stressed you can feel many things like nausea, headaches, stomach aches and many more which is not good for you. So for me, I like to watch movies, eat a lot of food and spend time with my family because that is what makes me the happiest and my stress levels low.

What things do you do to relieve your stress?

Culture Slides

Kia Ora bloggers,

This week me and my buddy (Maddison) have been working on some culture slides and still working on it. The culture we chose was Australia. Our teacher also put some questions on our class site and the more information we put the more points we could get. We also have to add 30+ pictures which means me and my buddy have a long way to go.

Rugby

During this term we had guests coming in and teaching us some tricks about rugby. Not only were we learning we were also having loads of fun playing games such as capture the flag and rainbow line. They made sure everyone participated and had fun. The thing I found most tricky was being able to participate in some games, because I sometimes just like to sit on the side and watch everyone. But in the end I participated in some games and found it very enjoyable.

Jack & the Beanstalk – Giant’s POV

I was getting ready for the day until I heard another tap, but the more taps turned into knocks and more knocks turned into banging. I couldn’t take anymore so I stormed to the front door and opened it wide open, but to my surprise no one was there. So as I was about to close the door I heard a tiny voice. “AHHHH” said the tiny human. I was so shocked! How could a tiny human like him get to me?!

This was one paragraph from my Jack & the Beanstalk – Giant’s POV . We had to write a fairy tale from the antagonist’s Point of View, and we could either change their POV to good or remain them as the bad guy.

Rewriting a Tale

Ki Ora

We are trying to change a story from 3rd person / narrator to 1st person. We had to:

  • Choose a fairy tale we know well so we can rewrite it.
  • Brainstorm a fairy tale from another character such as the bad guy to see his point of view.
  • Add words to describe my character Giant – Hungry, angry, tall, scary, buff.
  • Add the pronouns I need to use for 1st person perspective – I, we, me, my, our.
  • Check we have the main events from the story and number in order to remind me to use paragraphs.
  • Then we had to write the open paragraph.

Here is my first paragraph:

I was eating peacefully up in my castle until i heard something I haven’t heard in years. It was a human! It’s been forever since I’ve seen a human. He was disturbing my peace and invading my house. I warned him once but he still continued to search my castle. I told him again  to go away but that made him scream. His screaming was so loud it hurt my ears and that’s when I decided to chase him out of here. I chased everywhere in the house but he just wouldn’t go away. Then I finally chased him out of my castle and to my surprise I saw a gigantic beanstalk that was attached to my castle. I was determined to make sure he was gone for good so I followed him down the beanstalk. When all of a sudden I slipped and fell to my death.

I found that using the bad guys point of view was interesting and because we never get to hear his side of the story.

Angles.

Greetings bloggers,

Today we learnt the four main angles which are a Right angle, Acute angle, Obtuse angle and Straight line. We also learnt how to tell the angles apart just by looking at them. A right

A Long Walk Along to Water

Kia Ora fellow bloggers,

Today my group and I did an interview with our teacher talking and reviewing the ‘A Long Walk to Water’. In these slides are summaries about the First , Middle and Last bits of the story. We also had to do a character study where we had to write a description about one of the main characters.

Take a look at these slides.
